Sometimes you have a product that will be available in different sizes, colours and prices. The New Forest Collective can handle this very well and in a few steps.
Let's say you have a print available in 3 sizes and each have a different price.
First go to your Dashboard. Choose Products -> Create New.
Select Variable product from the very first dropdown box on the new product page. Fill in all your details in the description and add your picture etc as you normally would. Don't worry that there is no space to enter a price just yet.
At the lower part of your screen where the additional menu is, choose Attributes:
Click Add and the above box will open. In here we want to add our different options. In this case it is a print that comes in 3 sizes so I have put each size followed by a |
Deslect Visible on the product page if you do not want this information to appear in a new tab called 'Additional Information' and ensure you select 'Use as Variation'.
As another example: If you had a bag available in different colours, you would enter Colour in the Name box and in the Value box you would write: Blue | Black | Red | Yellow | GreenĀ - whichever colours you have.
If you have more than one type of variation, for example as well as colours you also have: Small, Medium and Large, you would create a second attribute which would have the name: Size and in the Value you would have: Small | Medium | Large
Once you have created all the different options you have, click submit.
We then create the variation prices
Click on Variations from the little menu, you will see the following (it takes a few seconds to load up):
The Default Form values would be the first variation the customer would see, so in this instance it is the smallest print for sale.
Click on Variations Bulk Options dropdown box and choose Create variations from all Attributes and click ok from the pop-up box. What this does is create an option that your customer can choose from. In the image example I would now have 3 options - one for each size available.
Click on the little arrow on the right - shown by the red square.
And then enter all your specific information for this type of product variety. As the only thing that will change is the price, that is all I enter here. All the other information is in the main desription.
Do this for each type of variation entering a different price in each one. The price field is the only one that has to contain an entry.
Click submit and you have now created options for your customer. Your product page will now look like this:
You can see the options there to choose and the price range of that product plus the price of the options selected.
Creating more by duplicating
Say for example you have 20 different prints and they all come in the same 3 sizes with the same 3 prices.
You can create more products with the same attributes by duplicating the product from the top of the first product page:
Then all you will have to do is change the picture, title and any relelvant description then click submit. Keep doing that untill all your products are done!
Don't forget, we are always at hand to help if you get stuck and should you wish for us to do this for you, check out our Shop Manager packages.
